It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing our one of our most committed and hard-working members, Paul Wonnacott - Assistant Honorary Secretary, Acting Chair of the Membership Committee and extremely dedicated Leader of the Green Rail Corridor Watch Group.
(Paul is seated front 5th from right in the group photo taken of a NSS walk on the Green Corridor)
Paul joined the Society in May 2013, through his interest in the Green Rail Corridor, and threw himself into Green Corridor activities and responsibilities with boundless enthusiasm and energy.
In May 2015 he took on wider commitments in the Society as Assistant Honorary Secretary, and then additionally as Acting Chair of the nascent Membership Committee.
Later in 2015, he was diagnosed with cancer, which he faced in an exemplary matter-of-fact and stoic manner. He carried on with his activities to the fullest extent possible whilst undergoing various treatments, but sadly his condition was ultimately untreatable.
We salute a tireless conservationist and a dedicated member of Nature Society (Singapore).
Paul is survived by his wife Zaharah in Singapore, his brother and sister in the UK, and daughters Sarah and Claire in Spain and the UK. We offer our deep condolences to all members of his family on their loss.
