Scarlet pygmys - mating pair

Nannophya pymaea is the smallest dragonfly in Singapore, measuring less than 20 mm long. It is not uncommon but is localised in certain spots near streams or banks of reservoirs.
Taken with Canon 500D, macro 100mm with 2X Kenko attachment. 1/160, f8 with flash 27GN.

Beautiful; less than 2 cm must be really difficult to find!
Red one is the female? Thanks!

Hi Angie,
The red is the male. If I get it right the male is usually more brightly coloured. The female odonata is usually dull in colour (very often a dull orange or brown). In this specie the female actually looks quite nice with stripes!
