SUMMARY:Earth Month: Enjoy Butterflies at Pulau Ubin!
DESCRIPTION:Open to the Public\nButterfly Hill in Pulau Ubin lives up to its name!  On good weather days\, the hill is alive with many fluttering wings of our lovely native butterflies.  The ‘Tiger’ butterflies are usually represented by the Blue Glassy Tiger\, Dark Glassy Tiger and Plain Tiger. DESCRIPTION:Members Only \nAccompany Steven on a butterfly walk at Bukit Gombak Park. This beautiful park is host to a great variety of butterflies. Come spend time watching and videoing butterflies here. \nOn a hot sunny day\, can expect to see the Autumn Leaf\, Silver Forget-me-not\, Lemon and Orange Emigrant\, Plain Tigers\, Leopards\, Rustic\, Grey Pansies\, Common and Broad banded Sailors\, and a recent new comer\, the Julia Heliconia\, all residents at the park. Ocassionally also the Dark Cerulean\, Apefly and Common Birdwing will make their appearance. A total of over 70 species have been recorded. \nParticipants are to be well on the day of the activity\, and must wear a mask if they are coughing or sneezing. Come join us at the NSS Rewilding Project to make our rail corridor a greener place! \nIt will be a full exciting journey! We will be involved in every single step of the rewilding activity which includes manual processing of grass & weed clearance followed by planting some of our native trees along the rail corridor. The aim of this project is to fulfil our goal of having the Rail Corridor as a conduit for plants and wildlife and to provide continuous canopy cover. \nParticipants need to be physically fit: able to lift at least 10kg and able to withstand the hot sun outdoors and be well on the event day. DESCRIPTION:Open to the Public \nJoin experienced guides from NSS Bird Group in exploring the core area of Kranji Marshes Nature Park.  The paths and hides here offer excellent views across the freshwater marshes.  Birding highlights include residents such as the Red-wattled Lapwing\, Changeable Hawk Eagle and Gray-headed Fish Eagle and winter visitors such as the Common and Black-capped Kingfisher.  Meeting time is at 7.30 am at Sungei Buloh Wetland Centre Visitor Centre and a hired bus will ferry the group to the start of the walk at Turut Track. This is a 3-hour walk excluding travel time to and from Turut Track. \nThis walk is in support of World Wildlife Day. SUMMARY:SWWD Dragonfly Walk at Lorong Halus Wetland
DESCRIPTION:Open to the Public\nWorld Water Day is held on 22 March every year since 1993\, to celebrate freshwater and to raise awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. \nLorong Halus Wetlands\, located along the eastern bank of Serangoon Reservoir\, collects and treats water passing through the former landfill\, before it flows into the reservoir\, thus safeguarding the quality of water in the reservoir. \nJoin Robin Ngiam and Lena Chow to explore the water filtration ponds at the Lorong Halus Wetlands and admire various dragonfly species e.g. Dancing Dropwings\, Common Scarlets\, Blue Perchers\, Variegated Green Skimmers\, which are regularly found at this unique place. \nParticipants are to be well on the day of the activity and must wear a mask if they are coughing or sneezing. Join professional nature guide Gloria Seow and Timothy Pwee to search for bioluminescent mushrooms\, frogs\, snakes\, night birds\, forest fireflies\, centipedes\, pill millipedes\, spiders and more. Under UV light\, Long-tailed Scorpions fluoresce a bright blue\, alongside the ethereal reds\, yellows and purples emitted by plants\, lichens\, fungi and insects. We will be involved in every single step of the rewilding activity which includes manual processing of grass & weed clearance followed by planting some of our native trees along the rail corridor. The aim of this project is to fulfil our goal of having the Rail Corridor as a conduit for plants and wildlife and to provide continuous canopy cover. \nParticipants need to be physically fit: able to lift at least 10kg and able to withstand the hot sun outdoors and be well on the event day. DESCRIPTION:Open to the Public \nJoin experienced guides from NSS Bird Group in exploring the core area of Kranji Marshes Nature Park.  The paths and hides here offer excellent views across the freshwater marshes.  Birding highlights include residents such as the Red-wattled Lapwing\, Changeable Hawk Eagle and Gray-headed Fish Eagle and winter visitors such as the Common and Black-capped Kingfisher.  Meeting time is at 7.30 am at Sungei Buloh Wetland Centre Visitor Centre and a hired bus will ferry the group to the start of the walk at Turut Track.
