Open to the Public - Registration Needed
The Singapore Bird
Race is organised by the Nature Society (Singapore) (NSS) to promote the
appreciation, awareness and conservation of wild birds in Singapore, and local
biodiversity more broadly to the Singaporean public. The Bird Race has also
served as a source of scientific knowledge on the distribution and conservation
status of endangered birds in the country. The data collected has also been
used in guiding national conservation assessments. Held annually since 1984, the
Singapore Bird Race is among the longest-running citizen science events in
Southeast Asia.
‘Threatened birds of
Singapore’ is the theme for this year. The current theme builds upon the 2019
theme (focused on the Straw-headed Bulbul – a high profile species), and
broadens the scope to species threatened by the pet trade in Southeast Asia.
Three iconic bird species will be associated with this theme as showcased in
the event logo; the Greater Green Leafbird, White-rumped Shama and Blue-rumped
Parrot.
This event is
generously supported by our main sponsor, Mapletree Investments since 2019. We
remain extremely grateful for their continuous support!
