Pulau Ubin is really an island of two halves. Two rivers separate Ubin’s east and west. Sungei Jelutong flows in from the south, meeting the northern Sungei Besar at a drinks stall. Healthy mangroves of various species thrive here. At some sections, the river narrows and the trees close in, creating a natural canopy of arching branches. Numerous species of birds – kingfishers, hornbills, eagles and more – can be spotted in this mazy waterway. Similarly, reptiles such as monitor lizards and snakes live here. Join us as we kayak Ubin’s two rivers.
